Leave a gift in your Will to The Lady Musgrave Trust
By remembering The Lady Musgrave Trust in your Will, you can have a lasting impact on the lives of young Queensland women and their children.
With no recurrent government funding, The Lady Musgrave Trust relies on contributions like yours to assist young women and children in need, and provide them with shelter, safety and hope. With nearly 140 years of experience we know that safe and supportive housing can move vulnerable young women from a state of crisis to thriving members of our community who are safely and permanently housed.
Leaving a legacy
The Lady Musgrave Trust is Queensland’s oldest charity, and has been providing accommodation and support services to young Queensland women and their children who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, since 1885.
By preparing your Will and leaving a bequest to The Lady Musgrave Trust, your legacy will be an outstretched hand to young women and their children in their hour of need.
How can you help?
The Lady Musgrave Trust welcomes bequests and gifts of all kinds. You can choose to leave a gift for a particular purpose, such as increasing the number of safe nights we offer by building or purchasing more accommodation, reducing the rent our young women pay, contributing to the support they receive while living in a safe place, or allow us to allocate it to where it is needed most at the time.
A bequest can be any gift or donation left in your Will.
You can give in many impactful ways, including:
Whole Estate
Choosing to leave your entire estate to The Lady Musgrave Trust. This is an incredibly generous gift and should be carefully considered regarding other beneficiaries or commitments you wish to recognise as part of your estate planning.
Money
This option allows you to choose an exact amount of money that you would like to go towards The Lady Musgrave Trust’s valuable work. This is most similar to a direct donation.
Residuary bequest
A residual gift is where you leave a portion of your estate to The Lady Musgrave Trust. This is the remainder of your estate after providing for any other beneficiaries, commitments, individuals or services you wish to acknowledge and the payment of any financial obligations you have.
Specific gift
This gift means leaving a specific amount or thing to The Lady Musgrave Trust. It can include money, property, assets, stocks and/or shares.
Percentage of estate's value
This involves leaving a percentage of the overall value of your estate or of your residual to The Lady Musgrave Trust.
Superannuation
This is not typically covered by your Will, as it is held by a Trustee. You could choose to add your superannuation to your estate and gift it to The Lady Musgrave Trust. You will need to seek independent advice regarding this if you wish to consider this option.
Personal items
If you have a personal item that will contribute to your lasting legacy within The Lady Musgrave Trust and its history, we would love to hear about it and help you decide if The Lady Musgrave Trust is the most appropriate recipient of your generous gift.
We strongly encourage you to seek independent financial and legal advice to ensure that your wishes are accurately recorded and represented in your Will.
Your impact
Homelessness is usually hidden in plain sight, but these incredibly brave young women have stepped forward to share their stories and involvement with The Lady Musgrave Trust, in the hope of shining a light on this epidemic.
We are humbled by their stories of resilience, strength and growth and remain committed to doing whatever it takes to solve homelessness.
