For many women and their children, Christmas is anything but joyful

Each year at Christmas there is a spike in emergency calls to domestic violence and women’s services.

It’s a time when families are at home together and, tragically, the mix of alcohol abuse and financial stress means many women and their children face domestic and family violence, and the desperate need for emergency accommodation.

That’s why we are pleading with you this Christmas: Keep your eyes and ears open to what may be happening behind closed doors near you. It takes a village to stop domestic violence and women’s homelessness before it happens.

This year, The Lady Musgrave Trust has helped up to 15,000 Queensland women and children access vital services to help them escape abuse and homelessness. We’ve also provided emergency accommodation to women and children needing help to restart their lives in a safe and stable environment.

You can help too. A donation of just $20 can help us make a safe space for a woman and her children for a month. Imagine what a little bit more can do.
