Now in its 10th year, the purpose of the annual Forum on women and homelessness is to:

  • Identify and talk about the key challenges that the sector is experiencing;
  • Bring together experts to provide relevant advice and updates on issues;
  • Provide a platform for improved collaboration on issues; and
  • Share new ideas that can be leveraged to improve the lives of the women that have become or are about to become homeless.

The Annual Forum is a sector driven event that is developed each year by a joint Working Group Committee comprising representatives from Office for Women, Centacare, QShelter, DVConnect, Micah Project Inc., Queensland Health and the Department of Housing and Public Works and
The Lady Musgrave Trust.

Invite you to the
10th Annual Forum on Women and Homelessness
Wednesday, 29 August 2018

The Forum will focus on
 Changing the Future for Young Women

We are delighted to announce attendance by Hon Mick de Brenni,
Minister for Housing and Public Works, Minister for Digital Technology and Minister for Sport

Queensland’s only annual event focusing on the issue of women’s homelessness is returning to Brisbane for its 10th anniversary Forum.

With thousands of women experiencing homelessness in Queensland and alarming increases in the number of older women experiencing homelessness - we believe that new innovative ideas are needed.

Come along to this important Forum about changing the future for today’s young women so they do not start on a journey towards homelessness.

Presentations will include lived experiences of homelessness and will explore innovative solutions to the issue including education, employment, financial literacy, accessing housing and more.

Attended by representatives from government, community, university and corporate organisations – this is your opportunity to be part of finding innovative solutions to women’s homelessness, and to network with others sharing this goal.

A full program will be available in July 2018.

At the Forum you will receive a copy of the 2018-19 edition of the "Handy Guide for Homeless Women in Brisbane" and an order form for additional copies. You can per-order by visiting the online store on our website.
